Soil Pipework:Once you have bought a new WC, you will need to buy the correct connection fitting for the waste outlet. These are push fit connections with multiple rubber fins that make the required watertight seal. There are several different shapes and angles available angled, straight, and offset. Your choice will depend on the pipework that is already fitted and its position in relation to the WC pan, of course the soil pipework size is critical also. Take a note of the inside diameter of the soil pipework and the outside diameter of the pan outlet. You should also draw the measurements of the distance and offset of the two parts. If at any time you don’t feel confident, then call a professional tradesman like a Grove Park Plumber.Fit the ‘connector piece’ on the outlet of the pan and move it into position in soil pipework. Mark the fixing holes of the pan on the floor and drill and plug them if the floor is of a solid type. On wooden floors, drill a small pilot hole for the screws. Check there is no pipework or cables under the drill holes. Line up the pan but don’t fix yet.The Cistern:Put the cistern together with all parts following the instruction leaflet and connect it to the pan. This may be with a flush pipe, or the toilet cistern could sit straight onto the pan. Look carefully at the assembly instructions since the correct mounting of all parts is important and may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.Fit The Cistern To The Wall:Make sure it is level and mark the fixing points for the cistern, lift it out of the way and drill and plug the wall. A Lee Plumber can drill and plug walls. Replace and secure the cistern, with brass screws because steel will corrode in a damp environment. The screws are normally fitted through small rubber gaskets to prevent damage. Be aware, the ceramic cistern can crack very easily. Connect up the water supply and overflow. Check for leaks”
