Reliable Plumber Lee Can Help You Get The Job Done Fast
December 21, 2014

Whether it be installing a new toilet for a bathroom upgrade or your previous toilet failed on you, installing a toilet can easily be done by a complete plumbing amateur. However, if you don’t trust your ability, you can hire one of our experienced plumbers at Plumber Grove Park to get the job completed efficiently. The following steps will explain how to install a new toilet.

Step One: Install the escutcheon plate and valve. Firstly, slide the escutcheon plate across the water pipe and then slide the valve’s compression nut over the water pipe so the threads face you. Wrap Teflon tape around the threads of the valve after sliding the ferule over the pipe. Be sure to have a wrench handy so you can hold the valve steady and tighten the nuts.

Step Two: Install the wax seal and the toilet bolts. Begin by attaching the toilet bowl to the floor before attaching the cistern if it hasn’t already been attached. Then start placing the new bolts in the flange so the bolts point up. Then place the wax seal on the underside of your toilet. Then slide the toilet bowl over the bolts and start twisting so the wax seal starts to set. Also, consider placing plastic cup retainers and washers over the bolts so then you can tighten the nuts in order to hold the bowl in place.

Step Three: Attach the cistern to the toilet bowl. Begin by dropping the tank bolts through the appropriate holes and make sure they are tight so the cistern won’t wobble. However, don’t over tighten the bolts because it can cause the porcelain to crack. Finally, connect the tank to the toilet supply tube and attach the seat.

Installing a toilet is a simple DIY project but if you simply don’t have the time or motivation to conduct the installation yourself you can contact Plumbers Grove Park to do the work for you. You can feel confident hiring us because we guarantee all of our work and have a rapid response system.
