Circulating Pump

Boiler:
The boiler normally has a model number so you can identify the system that is fitted in your home. It should also have the manufacturers name, if you need to find out any more information for spares etc. note down the model, year, and any serial numbers.

Sealed Central Heating System:
The sealed central heating system allows the water to expand when heated using an expansion cylinder. Should this be fitted to your home there should be a small pressure gauge fitted on your central heating boiler that gives a reading of the pressure.

Pipework:
Most central heating systems use a standard 15mm pipework for the radiator circuits. There is a chance that your pipes are much bigger than this. If this is the case, then, you will probably be using an old style ‘one pipe’ system. This is where the water is moved through the loop and then to each radiator using convection.

Combination Boiler:
The combi-boiler fed heating system has no need for tanks or pipework to be located in the loft. A very economical bit of kit, because you only heat the water that is used. The not so good feature is that, although the water coming for the hot tub is really hot, it is a slow flow rate. A great idea for a small apartment or flat.

Circulation:
The water in radiator pipework can be pumped around a hot water cylinder using gravity (or convection), whilst in others, it can be done using a pump and electrically controlled valves that force the water through the cylinder. A Grove Park Plumber is an experienced professional.

Maintenance:
Maintenance for these systems is not too difficult. The heating systems obviously contain lots of water, that, can of course cause the pipes to rust (particularly for radiators). This rust produces a dark muddy mess that sits in the bottom of the radiators reducing their efficiency. You can purchase chemical additives and solutions to clean through and protect the systems. A Lee Plumber can carry out maintenance and servicing schedules.
